My Holiday Wish For You
The Light shines brightly in you, but sometimes you may forget that it is there. This forgetting can be accompanied by any number of symptoms...a knot in your stomach that seems to grow a little tighter--yet a little bigger--as each year passes, a loss of interest in those things you feel you "should" be doing, or (insert your favorite symptom here.)
It's easy to forget your Light, because much (all?) of your life is probably directed outwards. If you stop to think about it, you may even sense you are separate from your own life. "Here's me, and that over there is my life." It's hard to feel excited or passionate when you can't connect with your own life, let alone your own Light!
Here's the question...do you really know what makes your Light happy? This holiday season is a great opportunity to re-connect with your Light and strengthen your relationship with it. You don't even have to change your activities if you don't wish to.
As you perform those activities that are common for many of us during this time of year, take a moment to notice your Light. Is it shining in full-force? Is it buried-alive by "shoulds"? Whether your Light feels exuberant or half-asleep, remember that the Light is a permanent part of you. You do not need to seek it; you need only to remember its presence to re-establish your connection. (FYI, a little gratitude goes a long way in that department.)
Are there some special opportunities appearing for you now to re-connect with your Light? Is it easier for you to know your own Light when you....
...help a stranger in need?
...help a family member or let them know you love them?
...laugh with your friends?
...walk in the quiet of nature?
...prepare a special meal for those you love?
...find the perfect gift for someone special?
...experience the joy and excitement of the kids?
...gaze upon bright stars or newly fallen snow?
...make the time to connect with someone you miss?
Whatever the stimulus that reminds you of your Light, enjoy it in full force, or just as likely, allow yourself to have a good cry with it.
That's your golden opportunity this holiday season: Feel the connection with your own Light. (By the way, there is no "bad" connection with your Light. And you can't "do it wrong.")
I invite you to use this holiday season to remind yourself that:
...you ARE this Light,
...this Light shines within you at all times, and
...this Light loves and supports you at all times.
My SECOND WISH for you is that you will remember your Light this holiday season, and that you will honor it by sharing it with at least one other person in a way that brings you Joy. Simple? I hope so. But if not, I hope you'll do it anyway.
I honor your Light, and I thank you for your Light in this community,
Arleen
